Amanda and Aaron met in early February of 2007. Lorraine, Amanda's mother, had spotted a dashing boy "in one of those hats" at the Stanley Theater where she worked with Brian, Aaron's father. Lorraine thought Aaron, an aspiring artist filming a documentary at the Stanley, was a perfect match for her daughter.
The group met up for lunch at Ancora, next to the Stanley. Brian and Lorraine did most of the talking. Aaron and Amanda were both silent, searching for the perfect thing to say.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, Aaron spoke those five fateful words, "So, ya come here often?"
Amanda couldn't believe it. This is the best he could come up with?!
She replied with a cold, "No. This is my first time."
After feeling rejected, the two left lunch wanting more. A month or so later, Lorraine tried again. This time she told Amanda she needed her help setting up an event for the Stanley. She just happened to mention that Aaron would be covering the event. Amanda called into work for the first time in her life. It was one of the best decisions she ever made.
Although it was love at first sight, it took this second meeting for the two to connect.
Since the awkward meeting, the two have grown to truly appreciate the love and chemistry they share. |
