Brandon and I met in the summer of 2004 shortly before my freshman year at Spelman College.  We both worked as contractors supporting the same office. We routinely chatted during the work day, but in my opinion he never showed any true interest in me. I was immediately attracted by his charming personality and of course those beautiful hazel eyes, but I never admitted I was interested because I wanted him to pursue me.  He eventually asked me for my number right before I left for school, but I figured he would not call because I was moving to Atlanta.

To my surprise, Brandon called one weekend shortly after school began, while he was visiting Atlanta. While he will say he traveled to Atlanta to pursue me, the truth is that he came to Atlanta to try-out for semi-professional football team. We hung out that same night and while we had a good time, I did not hear from or see Brandon again until 2011.

Fate would allow our paths to cross again in 2011. I was late for work that earlier that day so I  drove to another station to find parking. After a long day at work, I got back on the train and offloaded at my stop. When I stepped onto the platform, I felt someone tug on my bag. I turned around thinking I was either being robbed or stopped for a random bag search. To my surprise and was greeted by an officer in uniform who I recognized.  I immediately realized it was Brandon. Ironically, he was re-assigned that day to the same station where I happened to park my car. We exchanged numbers and agreed to meet up for drinks.

One night while out on a date, Brandon looked over at me and said, “I hope you know I am not letting you run off this time.”  I politely laughed, thinking to myself he was the one that disappeared the first time, and I shrugged him off as if he was exaggerating. I can confidently say he was not exaggerating.  I invited him over my house and he literally never went back home. He has been by my side ever since that fateful day.
